Uncorrectable

I usually just draw 'em, but sometimes someone asks for ideas, and at that point you have to write 'em too.
'Polly Tickly- Correct!' (Get it?!) concerns the inappropriately nannying Polly and her overprotective, overbearing, overwhelmingly awful approach to life.
This is what we in the business know as a 'Rough' - that is, a 'rough' idea of how the characters will look and the story will flow. A completed job would be more sophisticated. Alas, Polly was just too unsound to proceed and has been retired to the rejects pile, and this blog, where her grating voice and unpleasant haircut can be savoured.

Now - this I would love to see in the DANDY. And it works just fine the way it is - doesn't need "polishing".

Wowser trouser! You work up your 'roughs' to quite a finished state! And in colour, you masochist. I really like the bendy expressive body: loads of vivid contrast.

Hi Nigel,
I guess thats why you're the best, you're 'roughs' are as good / better than some artists final versions!.That serious dedication to your craft!

I had a couple of quiestions if you don't mind?

What kind of pen do you use?
is it just a regular fibre tip marker?

And do you darken the outlines in photoshop prior to colouring the strip?

Thanks for your time, sorry for being an irksome pest! :-)

Peter, I use Staedtler pigment liner pens for the fine lines (generally a .02 or .03) and a sign pen, such as a Pilot for the broader lines. They're pretty standard pens, but they hold the nib shape better than a regular fibre tip pen.I just scan them in at 300 dpi and flat values and either colour them myself or have them coloured by my colourist.
